Berri: We can adopt the jurisprudence of 1969

Speaker Nabih Berri reiterated on Wednesday that the sole solution for Lebanon’s crisis is "the establishment of a civil state," adding that he submitted such a suggestion during the dialogue table several years ago.

As for the Cabinet formation, Berri voiced hopes that a Cabinet would see the light as soon as possible, noting that the regional developments affirm his point of view that the obstacles hindering the formation are internal.

On another note, Berri tackled a jurisprudence adopted back in 1969 under which the state’s Budget was passed during the Caretaker government of late Prime Minister Rachid Karameh.

“We can adopt such jurisprudence today,” he added.

This as sources said that Berri contacted Prime Minister-designate Saad Hariri and informed him his readiness to adopt this jurisprudence.
