Friday’s strike, between supporter and opponent

Head of Lebanon's General Labor Union Bechara Asmar stressed Thursday that the right to stage a strike is guaranteed by the laws, noting that his duty is to be the spearhead in the street.

In a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, Asmar said that the call to hold strike comes as a way to exert pressure on the officials to speed up the cabinet formation.

For his part, Secretary General of “Sabaa Party” Jad Dagher said that the movement is not for his party, noting that the strike is one of the finest form of protest in the world and the most important way to exert pressure.

He pointed out that the officials have to form the cabinet, accusing the economic committees of attempting to foil the movement.

In turn, head of National Council for Lebanese Economists Salah Osseiran said that the timing and the preparations of the strike are wrong, stressing that Friday is a normal working day for the economic committees.
