The ministerial committee tasked with drafting the Policy Statement ended Wednesday the discussion of the draft Policy Statement, and the cabinet will hold a session on Thursday at 12:30 pm to pass it.
Following the session, Information Minister Jamal al-Jarrah declared that they finished the reading of the final draft of the Policy Statement, after introducing small amendments, without changing its core, noting that agreement was reached to cut spending and boost revenues, without increasing the taxes.
He revealed that the atmosphere during the session was very positive and no debate erupted over any item, noting however, that the Lebanese Forces expressed reservations over not adding the expression “within the legitimate state institutions,” when tackling the “right of the Lebanese people for resistance.”
He added that all the approaches raised during the meetings of the committee were positive and aimed at serving the country’s interests and dealing with the problems faced by the people.
Regarding the item pertaining to the Syrian refugees, al-Jarrah said that “the political solution and the voluntary return were not mentioned, but only the safe return.”
