Mufti of the Republic Sheikh Abdel Latif Darian hoped that there will be harmony among the members of the cabinet in order to resolve the major crises that have accumulated over Lebanon and which concern the citizens.
Following his meeting with Prime Minister Saad Hariri, the mufti advised the ministers to put aside their political differences and move forward with the serious governmental work that serves the interest of the country and the citizens, noting that the living and economic crisis that Lebanon faces is very dangerous.
On the issue of corruption, Sheikh Darian stated that fighting corruption is a very important and urgent matter, as long as the objective is the build a fair and strong state, stressing however that this issue must be treated within the framework of the state’s institutions, “since there are authorities tasked with control and accountability and must do their jobs.”
“In this regard, I say this as a message from me, former PM Fouad Siniora is a red line and he is a man of state par excellence. He is the one who restored transparency and credibility to the state’s finance,” the mufti noted, adding that Siniora responded to all accusations and false claims in his press conference.
