Meeting between Hariri, Rifi, Derbass and Siniora at latter’s residence

A reconciliation meeting was held on Tuesday evening between Prime Minister Saad Hariri and former Minister Maj. Gen. Ashraf Rifi, in the presence of former Minister Rashid Derbass and former PM Fouad Siniora, at the latter's residence.

 
Following the meeting, Siniora said that Rifi will not run for the Tripoli by-elections, noting that he will support Dima Jamali.
 
For his part, PM Hariri stressed that "they turned a new page today," calling on all parties to unite and face the challenges in order to end the poverty, in which Tripoli has been living.
 
"Dialogue must be held between all parties and I am sure that Rifi cares about Tripoli's development and we must work together to serve the city's interests," he added.
 
In turn, Rifi said: "We must rise above the small matters, since the country is in danger and the priority at the moment must be to face current challenges; I call on the residents of Tripoli to vote according to their convictions."
