Merhebi: Lebanese army command treats Akkar resident as terrorists

Future bloc MP Mouin al-Merhebi said on Sunday that the Lebanese army command is treating Akkar residents as if they were “terrorists.”

In an interview with “Al-Fagr” radio station, Merhebi criticized Suleiman for not sending a memorandum to the UN Security Council objecting to Syrian violations of Lebanese territory and attacks against Lebanese citizens, “as if he was a President for Lebanon, except for Akkar” he added.

“Akkar is used to Sleiman’s defeatist stances”, Merhebi noted.

He reiterated his call for deploying army forces along the border with Syria to protect Lebanese people, because not doing so “will lead to strife.”
