“Shebaa Farms are not Lebanese,” Progressive Socialist Party chief Walid Jumblatt said.
Jumblatt’s remark came weeks after US President Donald Trump recognized Israeli sovereignty over the Syrian Golan Heights and after President Michel Aoun said during Tunisia summit that Trump’s declaration threatens Lebanon’s sovereignty, since Lebanon has lands occupied by Israel, including Shebaa Farms and Kfarchouba hills.
He added that Lebanon’s ownership of these lands is proven by maps and documents recognized internationally.
Jumblatt’s remark did not pass unnoticed but triggered a chain of reactions from different Lebanese parties who condemned this statement.
