Minister al-Jarrah after Cabinet session: We are keen on BDL’s full independence
A Cabinet session was held on Monday to continue discussions over the 2019 Budget and the austerity measures.

Following the session, Minister of Information Jamal al-Jarrah said that the government is keen on Banque Du Liban’s full independence and does not want to interfere in its decisions and policies.

On another note, al-Jarrah stressed that the leaked data about the state’s Budget are "untrue and do not serve the national interests."

“The strikes took place based on wrong information,” he added.

The minister called on state’s employees to commit to the memorandum issued by Prime Minister Saad Hariri earlier in the day.

Al-Jarrah also noted that the economic and financial approach of the Cabinet requires the participation of all sides in the solutions, adding that the government is in the process of adopting a series of structural reforms.
