Rare giant octopus caught off Tyre shore-[VIDEO]
A giant and rare octopus was caught on Wednesday off the Tyre shore by a fisherman.

The octopus weighs more than 6 kilograms and is about two meters long.

“This type of octopus is rare not seen before in our sea. It is called Golan,” Lebanese Marine and Wildlife Museum head Dr. Jamal Younes said after inspecting the sea animal.

“It lives in a depth of 40 meters to 1,000 meters in the sea and is considered dangerous and fierce if approached,” he added.

Younes noted that this kind of octopus lives on crab, prawns and shellfish and is known for preferring to live in clean and non-polluted water.

“Maybe this octopus preferred to live in our sea in Tyre because our water is clean and was then caught by fishermen,” he added.

The octopus will be embalmed and e showcased in the museum in Jeita.
