Rai says political conflicts in Lebanon are turning sectarian and distorting the culture of coexistence

Maronite Patriarch Beshara Boutros Rai said that Lebanon is witnessing political conflicts that are turning sectarian and tarnishing the image of the national pact and coexistence.

In a speech he delivered during the inauguration of the Ordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Maronite Church in Bkerke, Rai added that the region of the Middle East, which has been suffering from wars and conflicts that are destroying it, weakening it and displacing its peoples while turning it as a battlefield for the terrorist organizations and extremist movements, is facing a more dangerous risk that will destroy its identity and the rights of its citizens and which is known as “the deal of the century.”

"The Deal of the Century works to resettle the Palestinians and the Syrian displaced in their host countries with financial incentives to the authorities of these countries," he said.
