Interior and Municipalities Minister Rayya Al Hassan held a press conference on Friday to explain the circumstances of the incident that took place in Tripoli on Monday night, implemented by terrorist Abdel Rahman Mabsout.
“Security services are in charge of carrying out the investigations into the Tripoli attack to unveil the details in a professional and skilled manner under the supervision of the concerned judiciary and in accordance with its directives,” she said.
Al-Hassan explained that “the expression – lone wolf – is usually used by security apparatuses to refer to a person who commits a criminal act, including terrorist crimes, all by himself,” adding that these types of crime take place around the world.
“Those who kill with cold blood are mentally unstable, figuratively and not medically,” she added.
The minister also stated that Mabsout left his house on board a motorcycle holding 6 hand grenades and a machine gun, noting that he is 28 years old from al-Haddadin neighborhood and does not have precedents in beating or inflicting harm on anyone.
“It is dangerous to exploit a terrorist crime for sectarian and political incitement,” she said, emphasizing that Tripoli has proven once again that it rejects all forms of extremism.
