The French Embassy in Lebanon denied all reported stating that it called on French nationals to refrain from wandering around the streets of Beirut and other regions within the upcoming hours, noting that the only message that has been sent was from the French consulate yesterday urging the French nationals to avoid the town of Qabr Chamoun where the incident took place on Sunday.
Messages had been shared via WhatsApp containing rumors and claiming that the French Embassy called on its nationals to avoid Beirut over the next 48 hours.
In the same context, the Internal Security Forces noted that “audio messages are being shared via WhatsApp; some of them date back several years about a warning of possible explosions.”
Consequently, the ISF called on the people to avoid being dragged into believing such rumors and the refrain from re-sharing the audio messages that they receive, since they only cause fear and panic.
