A detailed report issued by the Child Protection program in Beirut and Mount Lebanon in cooperation with UNICEF found that child labor is most prevalent among the 5-17 years old.
Some children work with their families and relatives while others are exploited and forced to make money by spending their days begging at busy crossroads, streets and shops, especially those with special needs.
In Beirut, children of several nationalities, Lebanese, Syrians and Palestinians, roam the streets selling roses, gums, begging or even cleaning shoes days and nights.
