MP Salim Aoun to LBCI: Logic of statelets and cantons must end

MP Salim Aoun explained Monday that the security measures and the investigations underway to reveal the truth contribute to calming down the atmosphere within the government.

In an interview with LBCI’s Nharkom Said, Aoun asked: “Is it wise to hold a cabinet session before removing the detonators?” noting that the postponement of the session was done in agreement with Prime Minister Saad Hariri who made the decision.

“Dealing with this issue requires honesty while some parties are trying to harm the settlement at a time when the lesson must be learned from the history,” he explained, adding that there is a political party that continues to act as a triumphant and treating the others as defeated.

MP Aoun voiced his surprise over the quantity of weapons used during the Qabrchmoun incident, pointing out that every party head has the right to visit his supporters.

In this context, he stressed the need to abolish the logic of statelets and cantons through agreement.

Commenting on some people’s annoyance over the visits of Minister Gebran Bassil, Aoun stated that the progress made by the Free Patriotic Movement is what annoys the others, “mainly because Bassil is successful in his leadership and policy and his achievements must be respected.”
