French envoy tasked with following up on the decisions of Cedre conference Pierre Duquesne stressed on Thursday the need to work on a series of measures in order to improve Lebanon’s economy.

Duquesne also noted that France is playing the role of mediator between the Lebanese authorities, Lebanese economic leaders and representatives of civil society and donor agencies.

He also said that the basis of reforms should include expenditures, adding that these reforms do not aim at satisfying an entity or a country, but must be aimed “at improving things.”

Duquesne concluded by stressing the need to start increasing tariffs in the electricity sector starting 2020, calling also for strengthening anti-corruption bodies.
