Traders threaten to close their shops in case chaos continues in Tripoli

Owners of buses and shops in Tripoli held on Wednesday a sit-in in al-Baraniyeh Street and in the area of Bridge of Abou Ali River, in protest to repercussions affecting their economic conditions and the deterioration of the security situation in the city. Accordingly, they closed their shops, claiming that the commercial activity is originally disabled.

The protesters demanded financial compensations for the losses they have sustained, threatening that in case authorities do not put an end to the security chaos in the region and do not pay the compensations, they will close their shops and hand over the keys to Tripoli’s municipality. They also warned against further escalatory moves if their demands were not met.
