Obsessed lawyer exploits immunity, stalks Rima Njeim

An obsessed lawyer stormed the house of the journalist Rima Njeim a few days ago after he pretended to be her colleague. He entered the house and headed straight to her, she started to scream leading the neighbors to rush to her house and force him to leave.        

Njeim explained that this incident was preceded by a series of harassments conducted by the lawyer who used to send her letters.            

The real problem appeared when Rima Njeim decided to file a lawsuit against the lawyer, not knowing that her step will be blocked by the immunity granted to lawyers. She noted that the general prosecution needs an authorization from the Bar association to charge the lawyer. This authorization has not yet been issued.           

In this context, in the legal concept, a lawyer must be granted guarantees and immunities in order to be independent in practicing his profession without facing obstacles. Accordingly, legally prosecuting a lawyer requires an authorization from the Bar association.             

In Rima Njeim’s case, the lawyer is exploiting his immunity to intimidate her and her family.
