The buses heading from Tripoli towards Beirut crossed al-Madfoun Bridge after being stopped due to measures imposed by the Lebanese army.
Videos had circulated showing heavy traffic jam in the region, as well as videos showing a clash between the army soldiers and the passengers.
In this context, military sources told LBCI that a clash erupted when the buses refused to be subjected to the routine security search measures that get applied to any citizen.
In turn, a number of passengers told LBCI that they did not refuse to be searched, but protested against the way they dealt with them and the arrest of some young men. They also noted that the search operations aimed at delaying their arrival to Beirut to take part in the demonstration.
