Rai meets delegations from Hezbollah and Akkar MPs

Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai met with a Hezbollah delegation headed by Mohammad Raad on Thursday as well as a number of Akkar MPs to discuss the turmoil in the Arab region and its repercussions on Lebanon.

Following the meeting, Rai regretted that some regions in Akkar are suffering from "spillovers" from the Syrian side, adding “since Lebanon is an integral part of the Arab region, it is feeling all repercussions”.

Rai said that Lebanon must convey “a message of peace not one of riot” to the Arab world, stressing the importance of coexistence, openness, democracy, public liberties as well as Islamic and Christian spiritual values.

Separately, Rai said that Christians in Syria do not care for the regime, but care for stability in their country.
