Carlos Ghosn: I was arrested for a compensation that was not paid

Former head of Renault Nissan alliance Carlos Ghosn said that his arrest over the last months is the result of a plan set up by the directors at Nissan company, stressing that he is not above the law.

In a press conference held at the Syndicate of Press in Beirut, Ghosn said that he was arrested for a compensation that was not fixed, not decided and not paid.

He explained that his arrest was an organized process, adding that they said to the world that he was arrested inside the plane, but in fact he was arrested at the airport building and then escorted to the detention center in an individual jail.

Ghosn pointed out that he was stripped of all his rights during his arrest in Japan, emphasizing that the conditions of his detention violated international laws and justice protected by the Human Rights charter.

“To flee was the most difficult decision of my life,” he said, adding that the feeling of hopelessness was profound.

On another note, Ghosn stressed that he is proud to be Lebanese, “because Lebanon stood by him during these difficulties.”

“If there's a country in the world that stood with me it is Lebanon,” he stated.
