Beirut Airport Civil Aviation research department: The year 2019 records a decline in airport traffic

Beirut Rafic Hariri International airport's Civil Aviation research department conducted a detailed study about the airport traffic during 2019.

The report showed that the year 2019 recorded a decrease in overall airport traffic.

The passenger traffic and airplane traffic declined by 1.72 percent and by 1.83 percent respectively in 2019 compared to 2018.

Cargo shipment volumes recorded a great decline of 10.97 percent in 2019 compared to the previous year.

The report also included a list of the top 10 airlines used by the airport. Middle East Airlines came in number one, and then came Turkish Airlines, followed by Emirates Airlines.

The report also indicated the countries from where the highest number of passengers depart and also travel to Beirut are Turkey, followed by the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

According to the report, airplane traffic by continent is from predominantly Asia, with 64 percent. The remainder of flights is to and from Europe and Africa, with 26 percent and 10 percent respectively.

Peak departure time at the Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport is between 5 A.M. and 9 A.M.
