New data revealed in Samaha-Sayyed conversation
Even though the Information branch has the recording device which was placed in former Minister Michel Samaha’s car and which has on it a conversation between Samaha and Sayyed, the branch still cannot confirm that Samaha is the one who placed the device in his car. This information will not get any clearer unless Samaha is interrogated in person about this issue.

In this context, security sources told LBCI that Samaha may be the one who placed the device, without confirming it as information but only as a logical guess. The sources pointed that a person who records all phone calls is likely to record conversations in his house and car.

These guesses may contradict with other logical facts stating that the car boarded by Samaha to transport the explosives was a gift from Syrian President Bashar Assad who also offered a similar car to MP Sleiman Frangieh. Sources close to Samaha’s case did not rule out the possibility that the Syrians may be the ones who placed the recording device in the car.

Meanwhile, the Information branch continues to send parts of the conversation between Samaha and Sayyed to the state commissioner to the military court Judge Saqr Saqr.
In the conversation, a number of Lebanese top officials were mentioned, among which Speaker Nabih Berri and PM Najib Mikati, as well as MP Walid Jumblatt. The branch is also listening to conversations recorded by Samaha in 2010.

Accordingly, it was revealed that Samaha made a phone call with a Syrian figure, on the day the explosives were transported.
