Mikati to take tough security measures to prevent abductions
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati called on Wednesday on all security apparatuses to take tough security measures to prevent abductions and to pursue kidnapping cells.

In a meeting with Justice Minister Shakib Qortbawi and Interior Minister Marwan Charbel, discussing the phenomenon of “kidnappings for ransom”, Mikati stressed that the political authorities entrusted the security forces with solving this issue and provided them with necessary cover to arrest anyone attempting to kidnap people and blackmail their families.

For his part, Minister Charbel said that President Michel Sleiman and the PM agreed on inviting the security apparatuses’ leaders to participate in the cabinet session to discuss the issue.
