Security oppression turns into sexual abuse
In less than a week, the security forces performed a “show of force” against small protests, where they hit tens of protesters who participated in the sit-in held by the National Campaign for Electoral Reform, and seven activists from the “Shamel” movement who were calling for civil personal status law.

The security oppression against such movements is not politically-backed and turns into offense, sexual abuse and hints of rape intentions.

In this context, an activist from “Shamel” movement Hussein Mahdi told LBCI that “a number of security forces sexually harassed an activist and verbally abused the girls”, noting that all the insults included hints of rape intentions.

Accordingly, in case anyone gets sexually, verbally or physically abused by security forces, the law exists and files in this regard get accumulated while the victim will have to wait for holding the offenders accountable for their actions.
