Charbel: Nabi Sheet incident not fabricated

Interior Minister Marwan Charbel stressed on Friday that “the Nabi Sheet incident is not fabricated”, noting that the explosion was a result of a technical error which might be linked to the high heat of the sun and the lack of organization for the old ammunition in the depot.     

In an interview with “Voice of Lebanon Radio Station”, Charbel noted that he has not heard any news regarding the case of buried weapons in Koura, pointing that “in case specialized mechanisms were used, we will find weapons elsewhere in Lebanon”.                  

On the other hand, Charbel stressed that the security situation in the country is stable, praising the efforts of the Lebanese Army and security apparatuses in maintaining the status quo.         

Commenting on the electoral law, Charbel said that discussions are underway at parliament, noting that "time is being waster" in those regards.           

However, he hoped that an electoral law will be reached before the end of the year, so that "the Interior Ministry will be able to pursue preparations to ensure calm parliamentary elections in 2013."
