Education and Environment Ministers launch national strategy for environmental education

Education Minister Hassan Diab and Environment Minister Nazem al-Khoury held a press conference on Wednesday at the conference room of the Education Ministry, where they launched the national strategy for environmental education, in the presence of the parties involved in the project and a number of education officials.                       

The president of the Association for Forest Development & Conservation Wissam Bou Ghanem delivered a speech, where he stressed the importance of the role played by the Association and its collaboration with its partners to preserve forestry and a clean environment.               

For her part, the Head of the Education Center for Research and Development Dr. Leila Fayad declared that the national strategy for environmental education came as a result of the efforts which have been deployed by the Education Center for Research and Development and concerned authorities since 1994.                

She added that the environmental education method had to be developed in order to be in line with the content of the comprehensive educational rescue plan.               

In turn, "Hanns Seidel" German Foundation Representative Dagmar Wiegman confirmed the effectiveness of the efforts deployed in order to prepare the strategy.                   

In this context, Education Minister Hassan Diab stressed the need to reduce pollution and to include environmental education among the curriculum priorities.
