Aoun: There is no need for cabinet's resignation

Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun said on Saturday that there is no need for Mikati-led government to step down in the wake of Hassan's death.

In an interview, Aoun said that "Wissam al-Hassan was the apparatus responsible for our security", adding that the mission of the government "is to act as an umbrella and protects the country when it is raining, not when the sun is shining", Aoun said.

Aoun stressed that PM Najib Mikati is the one who protected Wissam al-Hassan and insisted on keeping him in his position.

"We were not satisfied with his performance and we were calling for appointing somebody else in his position, but Mikati refused", Aoun stressed.
