Security forces deploy around Serail, protesters continue their sit-in
March 14 youth groups continued their sit-in on Tuesday outside the Grand Serail which was fortified from all sides to prevent the protesters from storming it.

While the Parliament security units were intensively deployed around the Serail, the road leading to the banks' street was blocked with iron barriers.

Protests around the Grand Serail began following the burial of assassinated Brig. Gen. Wissan Hassan on Sunday. Hassan was killed when a road side car bomb exploded in a crowded Achrafieh street on Friday instigating waves of anger across the country. Protests have been calling for the governments fall in the wake of the crime which reaped 3 death including Hassan.
