Future bloc calls for cabinet's resignation, says will boycott governmental duties

The Future bloc issued on Tuesday a statement following its weekly meeting whereby it called for the continuance of the struggle to unravel the culprits of the assassinations.        
                        
The statement added that the bloc considers the assassination of Brig. Gen. Wissam al-Hassan "a political act after Hassan had unraveled plots prepared against Lebanon [in reference to former minister Michel Samaha's arrest].          

"This government helped in providing a political umbrella suitable for committing these crimes," the statement said, reiterating the Future Bloc's call for peaceful demonstrations and expressions in objecting governmental policies.            

"We call for the resignation of the current cabinet and we will not participate in any governmental duties until its downfall," the bloc noted in its statement, stressing the need to form a neutral/rescue government to steer the country to a "clearer path."            

Commenting on Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's statements made on Monday,  the Future bloc said that "it demonstrates a political misreading on the part of Moscow."

The Russian official had described Syrian president Bachar Assad as the sole protector of the Syrian Christian minority in a statement he voiced yesterday, adding that country is being used in a grand geopolitical plot.
