REPORT: Ashrafieh tries hard to restore normal life

The High Relief Commission, in cooperation with the committee charged with following up on the case of those affected by the Achrafieh explosion, continued the examination of the explosion's damages and the preparation of files for the affected, who are expected to receive social assistance, the value of which was raised by the Interior Minister Marwan Charbel to ten million LBP.

In this context, and during a joint press conference, MP Michel Faraon and Beirut's mayor declared that they will pay an amount of 40 thousand USD to cover the expenses of the hotels in which the affected families will temporarily stay.

The issue of the compensation was also discussed during a meeting held between Trade and Economy Minister Nicolas Nahas and a delegation from the Achrafieh Traders Committee.

In less than a week, several promises have been launched pertaining to the compensations and the assistance expected to be granted for Achrafieh residents. Meanwhile, the residents hope that these promises do not remain "ink on paper."
