New York restores what Sandy destroyed

At a time when the United States started restoring normal life following the destructive hurricane Sandy, sources said that 98 Lebanese students were missing in New York.       

In this context, Foreign Affairs Minister Adnan Mansour told LBCI that no Lebanese nationals were reported dead in the hurricane, stressing that the missing Lebanese may have changed their locations without reporting it to the Lebanese Embassy.             

Two airports in New York reopened with limited flights. Limited service on the city's subway, which suffered the worst damage in its 108-year history, would resume. The New York Stock Exchange came back to life on Wednesday.             

At the stock exchange, running on generator power, Mayor Michael Bloomberg gave a thumbs-up and rang the opening bell to whoops from traders. More than 500 houses suffered from power shortage, while schools remain closed.               

For its part, CNN reported that more than one million liters of diesel spilled into the coasts of New York after the hurricane, resulting in a crack in the refinery tank in New Jersey.

On the other hand, President Barack Obama toured the New Jersey coast accompanied by the affected State’s governor, and promised to stand by the victims and stressed that they will receive aids as soon as possible.              

Obama will resume his electoral campaigns in Wisconsin, Colorado and Nevada.                       

For his part, Republican candidate Mitt Romeny resumed his campaigns in Florida which is considered among the decisive States, asking the American people to help the victims.
