REPORT: New York restores normality with elections drawing near

Four days after the devastating hurricane Sandy hit the US coast, the residents of New York and the affected regions expressed their anger towards power shortages in thousands of houses and lack of fuel, as lines of cars could be seen in front of gas stations. Accordingly, the police deployed in the areas to maintain order among angry drivers, while the hurricane's death toll was said to have exceeded one hundred dead between the United States and the Caribbean.             

While the news about the hurricane and its repercussions decrease, reports about the presidential elections increase, where both candidates seek to attract the undecided voters, especially in the states that settle the results, such as Ohio where polls show Obama in the lead, as Romney will find it hard to win the presidency if he did not win Ohio's votes.

In Virginia, the state where the republicans used to rely on its votes up until 2008's elections, the chances that Obama will win the majority of the votes are significant.             

In Florida, the most recent polls showed Obama in the lead with 48% of the votes, while in Colorado, officials estimate a tie between both candidates.           

Obama largely benefitted politically by grabbing the reins of the situation and managing the crisis resulting from the hurricane; however, the electoral campaigns of both candidates are still ongoing and at a strong pace.                      

In this context, Romney will visit seven states to attend electoral gatherings, where the last one will be held in New Hampshire. Obama on the other hand, will visit 14 cities in 8 states while focusing on Ohio until Monday evening.
