Zasypkin: Russia endorses attempts to isolate Lebanon from regional turmoil

Russia’s ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zasypkin said that Russia will continue to adopt its approach based on a political solution regarding the ongoing conflicts sweeping through the region. Zasypkin voiced his concern over the “subversive” foreign stances calling for the formation of a Syrian government in exile.

Following his meeting with MP Talal Erslan in Khaldeh, Zasypkin reiterated that his country is keen on preserving Lebanon’s sovereignty and unity, stressing Russia’s support to the self-distancing policy adopted by the Lebanese government to isolate Lebanon from regional turmoil.

Zasypkin praised President Michel Sleiman’s call for dialogue, adding that Moscow endorses the measures taken by the Lebanese authorities to contain problems and prevent further deterioration of security in the country.
