Frangieh from Bkerke: Money as a weapon is more effective than military arms

MP Sleiman Frangieh said on Tuesday that change in Lebanon should not occur without consensus, highlighting the importance of dialogue in this regard.

“Only after dialogue can we come to decide on the shape of the government,” he said following his meeting with Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Rai at Bkerke.

Frangieh stressed that it is better to differ on dialogue and stances than to reject it all together.

On the new electoral law, Frangieh said that it must be the fruit of an agreement between all parties, adding that the 1960’s law is “downright rejected.”

“The main malfunction in the 1960’s law is campaign financing and bribery; money as a weapon is more effective than military arms” he said.
