Nasrallah: Preoccupied with its own problems, Syria cannot support Gaza

Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah called on “the free people of the world” to stand by the people of Gaza. He considered that the launching of “Fajr-5” missiles indicates the presence of a strong resistance in Gaza, adding that Israel does not need an excuse to launch attacks.

Nasrallah warned that this fight should not only be that of Gaza, but "the fight of each and every one of us." He called for sparing no effort to put an end to attacks on the coastal enclave.

In a speech he made on the first night of Ashura on Thursday, Nasrallah said that Israel is taking advantage of the conflict in Syria and of all the changes sweeping through the region. “It found a favorable opportunity to strike Gaza and its missiles’ ability,” he said.

He stressed that the Israeli government starts launching attacks whenever it has a political, electoral or security-related interest to serve; “it does not even need an excuse.”

“Israelis were shocked today by the rockets launched from Gaza and acknowledged that Fajer-5 missiles fell on Tel Aviv,” Nasrallah said, adding that this marked a "huge" development in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

Nasrallah considered that Israel acknowledged that the resistance in Gaza managed to impose a certain deterrent force. In this regard, he said “I do not know if the Israeli army made the same mistake it made in 2006 when it attacked locations it through to be rocket-launching sites and declared victory while in fact it didn't."

“All Arabs and Muslims should work to save Gaza because the U.S. and the West only care about serving their interests, disregarding all humanitarian and legal standards", he said.

He said that Israel took advantage of the Syrian crisis to attack Gaza, stressing that Syria “which is preoccupied by its own problems,” cannot provide logistic support to Gaza.
