REPORT: Assir calls for open-ended sit-in, suspends formation of "military wing"

Imam of the Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque Sheikh Ahmad al-Assir called on the government to impose justice concerning Sidon's Taamir incident and the people killed, calling for an open ended sit-in next to Bilal Bin Rabah Mosque.            

During a press conference he held on Saturday in the presence of a delegation of Tripoli's Sheikhs, Assir stressed the need to form "Sidonian military wing"; however he suspended this decision until further notice, to keep the door open for more discussions in this regard.             

On the other hand, Assir reiterated that "he does not have a problem with the Shiites, but with the corrupt Iranian project in the region." He addressed Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah saying: "I admit that you managed to enlist the State to your project without being held accountable," stressing that "no one can break their will, and they will not give up their dignity revolution in Lebanon."                  

Assir accused March 14 parties of contributing in fighting him and tarnishing his image, advising them to reconsider their positions with their supporters, "and if they have any problem with religious extremism, they should get used to it, since this wave is inevitably invading the region."
