REPORT: Beirut's Bar Association elects new council members

Georges Nakhleh from the “Free Patriotic Movement”, Toufic al-Nouwayri from the “Future Movement”, Fadi Mousallem from the Lebanese Forces and Wajih Massaad are the new members of the Bar Association Council.           

The new members stressed that politics must be kept out of the association, calling for more judicial reforms.

The Bar Association in Beirut held on Sunday its General Assembly under auspices of the President of order of Lawyers in Beirut Mr. Nohad Jaber and former presidents as well as members of the association to elect 4 new members for the association’s council from 15 candidates and 5 members for the retirement committee from 11 candidates.

The Assembly  began with the national anthem and was followed by a statement delivered by Nohad Jaber whereby he mentioned the accomplishments of the Council.

Other financial statements were delivered and were followed by interventions from a number of lawyers who discussed financial, administrative, and legal issues.
