REPORT: Road victims in Harissa, traffic situation deteriorating

Mothers and wives of road traffic victims, wearing black clothes, entered the Basilic of Harissa on Sunday, to pray for the souls of their loved ones who they lost in car accidents.

On the occasion of the World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims, every citizen hopes not to be invited to this mass, but this matter remains in the hands of fate and the result of the delay in implementing the new traffic law in Lebanon.

In this context, the president and founder of Youth Association for Safety Awareness (YASA), warned against the fact that the situation is deteriorating as the expected number of road traffic victims in 2013 seems disastrous.

“How many victims should fall before the government assumes its responsibility and be aware of the fact that the citizens’ place is not inside a photo frame left as a memory on the wall?” Akl asked.
