Amano: Iran's nuclear program is "worrying"

The UN atomic watchdog said on Monday that the argument regarding the Iranian nuclear program is worrying, with work for diplomatic solutions underway.

In this context, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that Iran was on the edge of being able to triple its output of nuclear material that could be used in the core of a bomb if it were treated properly.

After talks with the French President Francois Hollande, Yukiya Amano stressed on the importance of seeking diplomatic solutions.

"The current situation is worrying but the declared material and installation facilities are under the IAEA's safeguard and we can verify that they stay in a peaceful purpose," Amano said.

Amano added that a high-level dialogue with Iran will take place on the 13th of December in Tehran.

It is worth mentioning that the UN Security Council passed 4 rounds of nuclear sanctions against Iran and the IAEA's board of governors passed a resolution in September asking Iran to prove that its nuclear program was not related to military purposes.
