Rai from Rome: Formation of new cabinet must be done peacefully

Lebanese President Michel Sleiman met with Cardinal Mar Beshara Rai on Thursday evening in the Vatican.

Rai had declared during a press conference that the Independence must be based on the sovereignty of the internal decisions, away from illegal weapons and camps, stressing the need to hold the elections as scheduled and to refrain from adopting the 60s law.

Rai said that forming a new government must be done peacefully in order to prevent falling in a political void which may threaten the economy.

President Michel Sleiman arrived to the Vatican this evening as the head of an official delegation to participate in the ceremony held to appoint Maronite Patriarch Beshara Rai as a new cardinal in the Catholic Church next Saturday.

In this regard, the organizers of the ceremony estimated that the numbers of Lebanese who will be heading to Rome to participate in the ceremony will reach 700,000 in addition to other Arab and foreign delegations.
