REPORT: Tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun open for visitors

On the 90th anniversary of the discovery of the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings near Luxor in Egypt, the tomb was opened for visitors.

Tutankhamun was an Egyptian pharaoh of the 18th dynasty, during the period of Egyptian history known as the New Kingdom. He is popularly referred to as King Tut and he inherited the throne at a young age.

Tutankhamun is the most famous of the Pharaohs, not because of his achievements, since he mysteriously died before reaching his twentieth year, but due to the unprecedented wealth of artifacts found in his tomb.

However, the Egyptian authorities hope that this tomb which was discovered ninety years ago will bring back some prosperity to the tourism sector hit by the repercussions of the unstable situation prevailing over the country since the revolution of January 25th.
