Pr. Sleiman and Pr. Sarkissian call for peaceful solutions to Syrian and Balkan crises

President Michel Sleiman said on Monday that he discussed with his Armenian counterpart means to develop further cooperation between Lebanon and Armenia.             

During a joint press conference with the Armenian President Serge Sarkissian, Sleiman said they unilaterally agreed on ending violence and condemning the recent aggression against Gaza, stressing the need to find a political solution for the Israeli-Arab conflict away from violence.                        


Sarkissian later visited on Monday afternoon Martyrs Square in Beirut. The Armenian top official was received in the Square by Defense Minister, Fayez Ghosn, Information Minister, Walid Daouk, and other dignitaries.

An official ceremony was held in the Square, whereby Sarkissian placed a wreath over the memorial monuments of martyrs before he left to the Grand Serail in the company of Daouk.

Armenian President Serge Sarkissian and First Lady Rita accompanied by an official delegation had arrived to Beirut International Airport on Monday morning, where the Lebanese vice Prime Minister Samir Mouqbel and a number of ministers received them.
