Aoun: Passing telecom data is unconstitutional

Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun said on Tuesday that the ISF information branch is raising the ceiling of demands, noting that the data issue cannot be passed since it is an unconstitutional matter, especially in regards to citizens' privacy.

Following the bloc's weekly meeting, Aoun stressed that they will defend the law and the constitution by all means. He added that the parties boycotting the parliament are rejecting the constitution, stressing that there is no point in returning to dialogue so long as those concerned are not willing to resume the talks.

Commenting on MP Okab Sakr's case, Aoun said that MP Sakr is voicing pride in regards to providing arms to Syrian rebels, stressing that the cabinet and the parliament should refuse this interference.

Aoun continued and stated: “They had the nerve to demand the withdrawal of Syrian troops from Lebanon in the past and they are now fighting them in Syria.”

He also hoped that the Syrians will learn from the mistakes of the Lebanese and resort to dialogue as opposed to violence.

On the electoral law, Aoun pointed that several electoral draft laws were discussed in the presence of Christian MPs in Bkerke, but were not negotiated, calling on LF Chief Samir Geagea to head down to parliament to pass the Orthodox gathering electoral law.

Aoun concluded by affirming that he refuses any change in the government.
