Syrian
warplanes raided Damascus Reef which has been witnessing a wide
military campaign and clashes with opposition fighters, according to the
Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
The Observatory added that
the outskirts of the towns of al-Mlayha and Zebdin in Damascus Reef were
shelled by warplanes which also flew over East Ghouta.
This as
the city of Daraya in southwestern Damascus was shelled by pro-regime
troops which are clashing with opposition fighters in the town of Saqba
east of the Syrian capital, the Observatory added.
Meanwhile,
Al
Watan Daily reported that pro-regime troops continued chasing armed
groups on both sides of the road leading to the Damascus International
Airport in Beit Sahm and Akraba, to the northwest in Chebaa, in the
orchards extending from Kfarsousa to Daraya, and in Hujeira near Sayyida
Zaynab and Douma.
This as two Russian warships docked in the
Syrian Tartous port to fill up at the only Russian naval base in the
Mediterranean, according to a source in the Russian Admiralty.
Positions
The Russian Foreign Ministry held on Wednesday "the terrorists and the
foreign parties who are supporting them", accountable for the death of
approximately 29 children in the attack on a school outside Damascus on
Tuesday.
Hungary's embassy in Damascus suspended its operations on Wednesday and Hungarian diplomats left Syria, the Hungarian Foreign Ministry said on the government's official website.
The ministry added in a statement that on urgent consular matters, Hungarian citizens should turn to Hungary's embassy in Beirut.
For his part, Jordan’s King Abdullah II said
Wednesday that Jordan will not participate in any military intervention in Syria,
adding “at the same time, Jordan is getting ready for the worst scenario.”
In an interview the Al-Rai and
The Jordan Times Dailies, the King warned the two governments that the failure or
delay to reach a political solution in Syria may lead to further ground
complications and have “disastrous repercussions.”
He called on all parties to put
Syria’s interest and unity above anything else.
For her part, the United States
Secretary of State said that her country is worried that the “desperate” Syrian President
Bashar al-Assad would resort to chemical weapons or lose control of them.
