School Van driver arrested after attempting to rape 2 young girls

A number of residents from the Houla town cut off the Houla – Mays El Jabal road near the town's police station with burning tires on Thursday morning in protest of a rape incident.

Ali Mohammad Zaraket, born in Markaba in 1954 allegedly attempted to rape two young girls with special needs: 12-year-old Sarah M. from Houla and 14-year-old Mariam H. D. from the town of Markaba.

Ali allegedly made sexual advances at the girls whilst driving them home from school.

Immediately, security forces managed to arrest him, transferring him to the Houla police station where a number of young men from the town gathered in an attempt to enter the police station by force. The ISF and LAF members prevented them from breaking in.

The defendant who drives a Van to transport students has not yet confessed. He was transferred to an ISF station outside the region for his own safety and to complete interrogations. On Friday morning, he was handed over to General Prosecution in Nabatieh.
