Lebanon recovers 4 bodies among Talkalakh victims, contacts ongoing to recover the rest

Bodies of Talkalakh's victims arrived Sunday in Tripoli where authorities checked their identities and delivered them to their families.

The funeral was held on Sunday after the noon prayers at al-Mansouri Grand Mosque.

Earlier, Lebanese authorities received the bodies of 3 Lebanese citizens and 1 Palestinian national killed in Talkalakh's ambush.

The Lebanese General Security, ISF and the LAF took intensive security measures on al-Arida border crossing, as a delegation from Dar al-Fatwa was present to represent the Mufti of the Republic Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani. The delegation was headed by the Director of Public Relations at Dar al-Fatwa, Sheikh Shady al-Masri.

Four ambulances of the General Authority of Islamic Affairs & Endowments, accompanied by the Lebanese general security entered the Syrian territories to transport bodies of the nationals killed in the ambush identified as Mohammad al-Ayoubi, Bilal el Ghoul, Ahmad Nabhan and Mohammad al Hajj.

Spokesman of the Talkalakh victims group as well as Sheikh Ahmed al-Asir arrived at the al-Arida border crossing to follow up the process of handing over the bodies.
In this context, the General Directorate of General Security stressed that Major General Abas Ibrahim will proceed in his contacts with Syrian authorities in coordination with the Lebanese foreign ministry to ensure the return of the remaining bodies of Talkalakh's victims.

It is noteworthy that Lebanon has already recovered 7 bodies and according to sources, Syria still has 6 bodies that it is trying to identify.

On the 30th of November 2012, reports emerged saying that a number of Lebanese nationals died in a Syrian ambush in the bordering town of Talkalakh.
At least 14 Lebanese and Palestinian gunmen from north Lebanon were reportedly killed, with three wounded and detained in the ambush. Syrian state television aired graphic video of the dead men, riddled with gunshot wounds and lying in the grass.
