Sabounjian: Lebanese state maintained stability throughout tough circumstances

Minister of Industry Freij Sabounjian warned against the possible impact of the regional turmoil on Lebanon, calling on all parties to keep a distance from harmful rhetoric “since they can have a huge impact on the economic situation.”

“For the time being, we should focus on the industries that we can market,” he said.

Sabounjian told Sawt Lebnan radio (Voice of Lebanon) on Monday that the Lebanese state has fulfilled all of its obligations for the year 2012; “it maintained stability as much as it could despite the crises it faced.”

While he confirmed the existence of “governmental solidarity”, Sabounjian pointed out that the cabinet is looking into the ranks and salaries series quietly in order to prevent possible repercussions on the national economy and the people.
