Rayyes to LBCI: Abu Faour will respond to Syrian ambassador attack early next week

Progressive Socialist Party media official Rami Rayyes said Friday that the attack of Syrian ambassador Ali Abdel Karim on the Ministry of Social Affairs comes in light of continuous attempts to divert attention from the Syrian crisis, stressing that Minister Abou Faour will respond early next week through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and according to protocol.

Rayyes told Nharkom Said that the Syrian ambassador breached the Vienna convention, adding “there may be some remarks on the work of the Foreign Ministry in this regard.”

Rayyes considered that the politicization of the Syrian displaced issue is extremely dangerous and violates the most basic human rights. “We cannot deprive refugees from relief operations for fear of a deteriorating security situation.”

On Syria, Rayyes excluded the possibility of reaching a political consensus “since the regime lost its control on the field,” adding that Lebanon must strengthen the self-distancing policy adopted towards the Syrian crisis.

On national dialogue, Rayyes stressed that there is no alternative, adding “no one can cancel the other out.”
