REPORT: Rare Lebanese craft works survive through time

Lebanese citizen Riyadh Khabbaz is considered among the few people who still practice the craft of bookbinding in Lebanon.

In this context, Riyadh continues to use the traditional means in his work, and resists to the technological and modern ways to bind and repair books.

Khabbaz works with his son Shaker at a workshop located in Beirut, where they work on binding copies of the Koran dating from the seventeenth century as well as old books. They also apply on the books' covers made of leather writings with a thin golden line.
