Gemayel: We have the opportunity to ratify an electoral law ‘made in Lebanon’

MP Sami Gemayel said Monday that March 14 have the opportunity to ratify an electoral law which was “made in Lebanon”, adding “this is why we called on all parties to deal with the issue positively.”

“We are open to all solutions and we do not want to impose anything on anyone; but after 23 years, we will not accept any law which is enforced on us.”

Following the Kataeb’s weekly meeting, Gemayel called on all parties and independents to seek practical solutions, adding that the Kataeb will not accept to go back to the "era of marginalization" and to the 1960s electoral law.

Gemayel pointed out that the common denominator between March 14 forces is not the electoral law, but their rejection of “illegitimate weapons” and their attachment to democracy and to the STL.

“Instead of attacking us, let them understand our fears and suggest alternative electoral laws,” he said.
